John O'Callaghan Q&A

What did you want to be when you were very young?

An architect, I always loved drawing and buildings but unfortunately I wasn’t good enough at maths!

What was your first ever job?

Working in my dad’s petrol service station making 10p bags of sweets and packing shelves.

What is your most vivid childhood memory?

Going to see David Bowie with my mum at about the age of 4 years old, in a huge open air rock concert in Ireland.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I drink a bit much during the week, 6 cans and a DVD could happen a couple of evenings a week!

Who was your teenage crush?

Whitney Houston, or Sarah Jessica Parker (from flight of the navigator).. haha.

Apart from DJing, what other talent do you have?

I am a decent cook, nothing spectacular but I have some nice specialities!

What 3 words would your girlfriend/wife or best friend use to describe you?

Kind, hard working and a bit of a worrier!

You’re playing Parklife, the last festival of the year – you played the first ever Parklife last year, how was it for you? (please omit if you didn’t perform last year and replace with, are you looking forward to it?)

Parklife was a breath of fresh air. So many other festivals fall into the normal experience you would get like many others, but the friendliness and great party atmosphere at Parklife is just exactly like you get at Inside Out. Only in Scotland and Ireland do you get this! Can’t wait for the next one!

Which other acts/DJ’s are you hoping to see perform at Parklife this year?

I always look forward to Scot Project. I used to go and see him in clubs when I was about 17 so it’s great to be playing alongside one of the legends of dance music. Absolutely sound guy too!

What are your 3 essential festival items, apart from your Tunes?

A heavy jacket, comfy runners (or trainers as you call them) and my good mates around me. William Daniel – best host you could ask for! Legend.

Give your 3 all time biggest festival anthems:

Mauro Picotto – Lizard
Bart Claesson – Playmo
PVD – For an Angel

Take this opportunity to plug what you have going on at the moment/production/gigs/anything you want….

My album is out now ‘Never Fade Away’ @ iTunes and the new single “Find Yourself” incl. Cosmic Gate remix is available @ Beatport and all other portals! Coming soon 10 Aug: Giuseppe Ottaviani + Andy Duguid remix of ‘Never Fade Away’ !
